The 2016 ADK 80K Weekend was full of good stories, great food and lots of camping in the Adirondacks for the Stickboy Coffee Race Team. It was a wonderful to visit Lake Placid again and to be reminded of the 1980 Olympics which brought us the "Miracle on Ice!" U-S-A! U-S-A!
The 2016 ADK 80K Race Weekend consisted of an ultra-trail run on Saturday August 27th and the following day there was a fat bike race. The course was 100% off-road, about a 50/50 mix of single-track and double-track (cross-country ski trails) with just over 1,000 feet of climbing per lap which were used during the 1980 Olympics.
Stickboy Coffee Race Team member Pat completed the duathlon with a combined time of 7 hours, 47 minutes and 26 seconds over two day period taking first place. Congrats Pat!
Fellow Stickboy Coffee Race Team members Richard and I competed in the 40k fat bike race. Richard took second place with a time of 3 hours and 45 seconds. Congrats Richard! I took third place in the 40k fat bike race finishing in 3 hours and 22 minutes and 36 seconds.
It was a great weekend with lots of laughs and one that the Stickboy Coffee Race Team will not forget. Thank you to Pat for finding the race and thank you to Richard for coming along for the adventure!
