Stickboy Coffee Race Team
The Weekend of October 5th and 6th
Justin Frontuto went to the Parma Cyclocross race held in Rochester, New York a race he had never done before. For about 20 minutes before the race it rained so the course was nice and muddy at the start. On the final lap of the race, Justin saw a gap so he took it and was able to win the race!! Congratulations to Justin on winning the race!!
Uncle Pat traveled to Vermont this weekend for a bike race. It was one of the toughest races Uncle Pat has ever competed in. It took Uncle Pat about 8 hours to cover over 48 miles with instance climbs and downhills throughout the race. Uncle Pat climbed over 7,000 feet this weekend. This race was so crazy that the race director said, “Look for an old bus in the woods at about 25 miles. There is enough water and beer for one each.” The race participants were advised to bring a water filter so they can stay hydrated by filtering water from the streams. Now that’s crazy awesome. Congratulations to Uncle Pat on finishing this crazy race!
Dave and Heather Elen competed in the Riot Run 5k race at the Prison City Brewery in Auburn, New York. The weather was a little cold at the start but Heather and Dave had a great time! Dave won the stein hoisting competition were all the proceeds went to charity. Congratulations to Dave and Heather at a great race!
The Weekend of October 12th and 13th
Stickboy made is long anticipated return to the running world this past weekend at the Empire Race in Syracuse, New York. The Empire race is a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation an organization that means a lot to Stickboy personally and everyone here at Stickboy Coffee.
It was a bit cold at the start of the race but it turned out to be a beautiful day to be running! Stickboy took on the 10k course and at mile one Stickboy cramped up so bad that he wanted to crawl up on the side of the road and give up, but determined to overcome the pain Stickboy kept running. As Stickboy has always said, “One step at a time.” Not only did Stickboy end up finishing the race but he took 6th place in his age group! Congratulations Stickboy on your 6th place finish!
Dave and Heather joined Stickboy on the 10k course. Heather was all smiles on the course even when Stickboy was waving to her during the race and reported back that she had a lot of fun. Dave got in the zone early and had a strong finish crushing his time from last year. Dave went on to take 3rd place in his age group. Congratulations to Heather and Dave!!
Stickboy and Beast Mode Matt have ran this race together for the past few years so it is tradition at this point. Beast Mode Matt actually worked at his job before the race and had very little sleep the night before the race. Beast Mode Matt locked in right from the start of the race wanting to set a good peace. He stayed focused throughout the race watching his time and he felt good both mentally and physically. Beast Mode Matt crossed the finish line clocking in his best half marathon time and taking 3rd place for his age group. It is amazing that Beast Mode Matt worked his job before the race and still clocked in the best time of his life. That is truly awesome!! Congratulations to Beast Mode Matt on taking 3rd place!
Justin Frontuto raced the Finger Lakes Cyclocross at Everest Park in Auburn, New York. We have heard that this has always been one of Justin’s favorite races. The race started with some rain and it proved to be a challenge for everyone when it came down to choosing your tire pressure. Justin took the lead on the first lap and he held position right until the last lap before being passed on an incline but Justin finished strong taking second place! Congratulations to Justin on your second place finish!
Uncle Pat traveled to Pennsylvania to take on the UnPaved bike race and he had a lot of fun! It was an amazing event from the start to finish with the venue having onsite camping. The course was extremely well marked and it had some of the best aid stations in racing. Uncle Pat has stated the swag was great and he had a strong finish. Congratulations to Uncle Pat on finishing the race!
The Weekend of October 19th and 20th
It was another busy weekend for the Stickboy Coffee Race Team!
The Stickboy behind Stickboy Coffee traveled to Wellsville, New York to take on the Ridge Run and according to Stickboy this is the hardest course he runs. What makes the Ridge Run so unique and different is that the community comes together and the course is on people’s private property. Now that’s awesome! In the twenty seven years since its inception, Ridge Run has moved from humble beginnings to an event that hosts up to 1,100 participants who select from a varied pallet of running challenges.
In years past, Stickboy has taken on the long course but he ran 10k course this year which covers moderate terrain of trails with some extremely challenging climbs and ending in a fast 1/2 mile downhill back to the starting point. Stickboy took second place in his age group. Congratulations to Stickboy on your success!!
Dave Elen and Uncle Pat traveled to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to take on the Iron Cross Bike Race. The Iron Cross is a bike race with the perfect mix of gravel, double track, single track, pavement and a little bit of “run-up” that creates an adventure unlike any other. There is nothing else quite like this race.
While Uncle Pat has competed in this race a few times, this was Dave’s first Iron Cross and he rocked it! Dave had a top 30 finish and grabbed 24th place overall on the 70k course. Congratulations to Dave on a great finish!!
Uncle Pat had another amazing finish at the Iron Cross. He grabbed a top 100 finish taking 78th place overall and 45th place in his age group in the 100k race. Congratulations to Uncle Pat on your finish!!
Justin Frontuto traveled to Liverpool, New York to take on Salt City Cyclocross Spectacular. The race was held at Long Branch Park and the course had everything from hills to stairs throughout. Justin finished strong again taking 3rd place overall. Congratulations to Justin on your 3rd place finish!!
