Stickboy Coffee Race Team Member Pat McFalls aka Uncle Pat and I will be riding our bikes for 24 hours to help raise money for his grandson who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on June 5, 2020.
Read on....the story is heart wrenching.
Pat will be riding his mountain bike for 24-hours through Winona State Forest to raise funds for his two-year-old grandson’s Leukemia treatments. Pat is an avid ultra-endurance athlete and will begin his 24-hour ride at 10am on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
Soren McFalls of Newfane, VT was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on June 5, 2020. He was admitted to Dartmouth Hospital about an hour away from his home. Against the landscape of the pandemic, this situation is compounded by new complexities. In order to maintain Soren's treatment, Soren’s mother has left her job as a preschool director. Due to concerns about COVID-19 and his weakened immune system, his 4-year-old sister was pulled from preschool.
Soren has an intense treatment plan set for the next few months and his doctors expect chemotherapy to continue for several years.
Pat will be riding to raise funds to support Soren’s hospital bills and the family’s expenses as they adjust to life with this diagnosis on a single-income.
Pledges-per-mile are being accepted at https://pledgeit.org/cycleforsoren. Any supporter who can guess the exact mileage Pat completes in 24-hours will get a custom bike jersey, featuring illustrations by Soren’s dad, an artist. One loop of the 24-hour course will be 14.5 miles with a 1,087 ft elevation gain.
Now is a time we can give back and make a difference! Please join us as we support the McFalls family and grandson Soren in this difficult time!!
